Curriculum Music

All children will learn music as part of the curriculum. This is often in a discreet lesson each week, but music is also incorporated into our cross-curricular topics.

In Year 4, the Coventry Performing Arts Service gives all children the opportunity to learn a musical instrument. This year, Year 4 are all learning the Ukelele!

Year 5 take part of Coventry Mornings of Music in the Spring Term.

Singing

All children have opportunities in weekly  assemblies for communal singing.

KS1 have a weekly singing assembly on Wednesday afternoons.

KS2 have a weekly singing assembly on Wednesday mornings.

Children in KS2 are encouraged to join the choir.

Music Lessons

All children have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument in addition to the classroom music lessons. We currently offer music tuition in –

  • Piano
  • Recorder
  • Flute
  • Clarinet
  • Guitar
  • Drums

Additionally, we offer –

  • Lunchtime music ensemble
  • Year 6 band

If your child wishes to begin to learn an instrument, please pick up a form from the office.

You will then be contacted once the relevant tutor has confirmed a space, with details of the cost and lesson times.

If there is currently no space in a particular instrument, your child will be added to a waiting list.

Please note that if you wish your child to discontinue their lessons, you will need to give half a term’s notice in writing.
