Pupil Premium Expenditure 2016 2017

Support for Pupils in Receipt of Pupil Premium

At Earlsdon Primary School, we believe all pupils should achieve well and enjoy their learning. We receive some additional funding from Central Government known as “Pupil Premium “ for any children who are entitled to Free School Meals, have been adopted, or are in the care of the Local Authority.

There are other children in our school who have barriers to their learning, but do not fit into these categories.

Therefore, we use the additional funding we receive to support all our pupils through pastoral support. This means we have provision for any child who is unhappy or experiencing difficulties with friendships, or self-confidence for example, to take part in lunchtime sessions or talk to a sympathetic adult. The provision includes a designated room where children can go for support and Pastoral Support Assistants who work with individuals and groups to provide these activities.

Many of the children in receipt of the additional funding (designated “Disadvantaged Pupils” by the Government) take part in these activities.

We also believe that appropriate, targeted intervention will support children with learning. An as a result we have also trained and deployed a Teacher, working part time, and a Learning Support Assistant who support pupils with their maths. This has had a very positive impact on maths learning across the school. Several of our disadvantaged pupils have benefitted from this support.
