Eco Squad

Eco squad ready for action!

Earlsdon Primary School believes in the importance of helping the environment. We do this in a variety of ways. Our Eco Squad meets on a regular basis to share ideas on how our school community can help ‘save our planet’.

A Message From The Eco Squad

We want to make everybody in school aware of how they can make a difference to this world. We have decided to use the book called:
Teach Your Granny How To Text And Other Ways To Change The World,”  (We Are What We Do) as a prompt to inspire everyone in our school to do a small action every day to change our world.

We believe that it is not just the Government’s responsibility to change the world; it is ordinary people and the choices we make in our every day lives which can make a real difference.

Every week we announce an action from the book in Monday’s assembly. We ask everyone in the school to do the action. The following week we count how many children have done the action and record it on the Eco Wall. There is an eco-representative in each class from Year 2 to Year 6 who is responsible for counting the number of actions for their class.

We also do recycling and classroom checks to reduce our carbon footprints. We check that things have been turned off such as lights, taps and monitors, and that there is no plastic in the paper recycling box!
We meet every week and also do assemblies which make our friends aware of environmental issues and how to help endangered species.

We've made up our own ECO-code and helped the rest of the school both to sing it and follow it. *Click here to see our ECO-code.*

We already have the Bronze and Silver Eco Awards and are hoping to achieve our Green Flag soon.
