Parent Teacher Association (PTA) Newsletter
Summer Term 2009

First of all, a big Thankyou to everyone who helped with the Summer Fair.
Whether you helped organise it, donated to the many stalls and hampers, manned the stalls on the day, strutted your cheerleading stuff, came along to support on the day, or did one of the many behind-the-scenes jobs, together we made it the huge success it was.  Oh, and a special thankyou to whoever organised the perfect summer weather!

The Fair was very well attended and it was lovely to see so many of the incoming reception new starters.  We raised the grand total of £1700 which will go towards new stage lighting and curtains for the upstairs hall, in preparation for the class productions next year.

More recently, in July, many families attended the annual Earlsdon Family Camp, organised by the PTA. The venue was the lovely Emberton Country Park set in 200 acres, with plenty of space and play areas.  Luckily during the days, the weather was largely fine and a good time was had by all – especially the children.

In addition this term, the PTA also funds the smart new book bags for the new reception starters and also the Year 6 leaving event – which this year is to Cadbury World.

We’ve had a busy and successful PTA year in 2008/2009 and organised many events and fund-raising activities, some of which we hope to repeat next year;

  • a great Turkish Night organised by one of our Year 1 parents
  • the sale of  tea towels and Christmas cards featuring children’s art work
  • the annual Christmas Carols Night where we collected for Shelter, the housing and homelessness charity
  • the wonderful ‘re-used’ Uniform sales which are always a great fund-raiser
  • end of term cake sales
  • Beetle Drive
  • KS1 Film night
  • KS2 disco
  • Quiz night

The PTA would like to thank everyone who supported our activities - and special thanks must go to all the volunteers, parents and teachers, who organise and help run our events.

So, on to the 2009/2010 school year and our AGM, to which you’re all very warmly invited, will be on Tuesday 22nd September at 7pm in school – we’ll send out a reminder nearer the time.
